What Is a Seasonal Site at an RV Park?
If you love the RV lifestyle but don’t want the hassle of constantly moving from place to place, a seasonal site at an RV park might be the perfect solution for you. But what exactly is a seasonal site, and how does it differ from short-term camping?
Understanding Seasonal Sites
A seasonal site is a designated campsite within an RV park or campground that you rent for an extended period—usually a season, which can range from a few months to the entire year, depending on the location. Instead of coming and going like short-term campers, seasonal site renters leave their RV set up and enjoy the convenience of a home-away-from-home.
Benefits of a Seasonal Site
- Cost Savings – Renting a seasonal site is often cheaper in the long run compared to paying nightly or weekly rates. Many parks offer discounted rates for long-term stays.
- Convenience – No need to pack up and move constantly; your RV stays put, ready for weekend getaways or an extended stay.
- Community Atmosphere – Seasonal sites foster a sense of community, as neighbors tend to be the same throughout the season, making it easier to build friendships.
Seasonal Sites at Lake Road Campground in Trempealeau, Wisconsin
If you’re looking for a peaceful seasonal RV spot with incredible outdoor opportunities, Lake Road Campground in Trempealeau, Wisconsin, is a hidden gem. Nestled right along the Mississippi River at Lock & Dam #6, our campground offers a quiet, scenic retreat perfect for those who love fishing, boating, biking, and exploring nature.

Fishing & Boating Paradise
One of the biggest draws to Lake Road Campground is its prime location for fishing enthusiasts. You can launch your boat just a minute away on the river or take a short drive—less than five minutes—to the nearby lake boat launches. Whether you love catching walleye, bass, or panfish, this area provides endless opportunities to reel in a great catch. Don’t have a boat? You can fish from the dock at the river and at the lakes. You can also rent a pontoon at the Trempealeau Marina, or you can reserve a spot on the Tremplo Fishing Float. You’ll be taken out into the middle of Mississippi River to a floating dock where you’ll find some of the river’s best fishing!

Bike the Great River State Trail
Keep your bikes at your site and take a ride along the Great River State Trail, which runs through Trempealeau. This scenic trail offers stunning views of the river, rolling bluffs, and lush landscapes, making it perfect for both leisurely rides and longer cycling adventures.
Explore Historic Downtown Trempealeau
Just a five-minute walk from the campground, historic downtown Trempealeau is a charming spot with local shops, eateries, and the famous Sullivan’s Supper Club. Sullivan’s is a must-visit—known for its delicious food and incredible river views. They even offer a shuttle service to pick you up from the campground, so you can enjoy a meal and drinks without worrying about the drive back.

Hiking & Paddling at Perrot State Park
A short drive away, Perrot State Park offers some of the best hiking in the region, including Brady’s Bluff, which features breathtaking panoramic views of the Mississippi River and surrounding bluffs. If you enjoy paddling, you can rent a canoe or kayak (or bring your own) and explore a tranquil, protected part of the river, getting up close with nature.
Watch Barges at Lock & Dam #6
A unique feature of this area is Lock & Dam #6, just a short walk from the campground. It’s fascinating to watch massive barges navigate through the lock system, and from the high lookout, you can enjoy stunning views of the river, passing boats, and even soaring eagles. The sunsets here are spectacular!

Swim at the Trempealeau Pool
Seasonal guests enjoy swimming the Trempealeau Pool, just a 2-minute drive, or 10-minute walk, from the Campground. The municipal pool is great for families, and our guests love the chance to cool down on hot summer days.

Relax at Your Campsite
After a day of outdoor adventure, you can unwind at your seasonal site, complete with water and electricity, a fire ring, and a picnic table. The campground is shaded with mature trees, so you can enjoy the sounds of birds singing as you relax by the fire.
The Perks of Having a Seasonal Site Here
Our family has a seasonal site at Lake Road Campground, and we love the routine of heading there every weekend. It’s the perfect way to escape the daily grind, spend quality time together, and enjoy the great outdoors. Since our RV stays set up, we don’t have to pack much—just clothes for the weekend. Our toiletries, towels, and other essentials stay right in the camper. The campground even has a laundry room, so you don’t have to haul dirty clothes back home. The campground has a bath house, featuring clean, hot showers. We do not have a dump station on-site, but we provide our seasonal guests with a pump-out service throughout the season. If you need a pump-out, you let us know. When you return to your site, your tank is empty!
Our favorite part, though, is meeting incredible people at the campground. The seasonals become like family, and we take care of each other. We watch out for one another’s RVs, and help each other out. We laugh over the fire together or share a meal. We’ve met so many great people here, building friendships with fellow campers who come back season after season. It really is a special experience!
